NORTHWOOD, Iowa — The Northwood City Council on a vote of 3 to 2 opted to stay with its three-officer police department, Mayor Randy Severson said Wednesday.
The city will pay the officers overtime for court time, vacations, call out time and holidays.
The council was looking into the possibility of contracting with the Worth County Sheriff’s Office for police protection to save money spent on overtime.
