After a slow start, the Albert Lea 12-and-under girls’ hockey team rolled to a 10-0 victory over Faribault Saturday night.

Jenna Christensen got the locals on the board with 4:29 left in the first period, with Katie Nelson assisting. Christensen scored again with 1:55 remaining on an assist from Nicole Wilson.

Albert Lea put the game away with five goals in the second period. Scoring were Sophia Jepson, Nelson, Adison Wangen, Haley Habana and Christensen. Getting assists were Nelson, Amanda Hanson and Brittany Osmundson.

In the third period the locals continued to score as Lauren Draayer, Christensen and Sophia Jepson added the final goals. Assists went to Nelson and Draayer.

Albert Lea allowed only three shots on goal. Kelly Hanson was the goaltender getting the shutout.

The 12-and-under girls have two more District 4 games before the district playoffs begin in New Ulm. The team is 12-2 in district play, 24-4-1 overall.
