Harold Sherwood, 66, Lake Mills, Iowa

Funeral service for Harold Sherwood, age 66, of Lake Mills, Iowa, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. Kevin Mackey officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St., Lake Mills, and again one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Salem Memorial Cemetery.
Harold Dean Sherwood, son of Dean and Mary (Robertson) Sherwood, was born March 9, 1936, at Bradford, Iowa. He lived in several different places because his dad was a depot agent. Harold graduated from Joice High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. In December 1957 He married Josephine Flattum. Harold worked at Huso Service Station in Joice, then at Larson Manufacturing for 30 years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, camping, bowling, helping others fix their cars, and tilling gardens. Harold was an all around handy man.
Harold passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center &045; North Iowa &045; in Mason City.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine of Lake Mills; five children: David and April Sherwood of Rockwell, Iowa, Julie Sherwood of Forest City, Iowa, Harlan Sherwood of Minneapolis, Paul Sherwood of Joice, Iowa, and Fern and Bob Zabel of Lake Mills; four grandchildren: Courtney Sherwood, Andrew and Joshua Zabel, and Clancy Sherwood; one sister, Rosemary and her husband John Spratt of Webster City, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Dean in 1960, and Mary in 1998.
