Van Hove, age 69, of Leland, Iowa, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. today, Jan. 24, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland with the Rev. Clarence Baalson officiating.

Visitation was 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home. Lake Mills, Iowa, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will take place at Good Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Titonka, Iowa.

Helen Marie Van Hove was born March 29, 1933, near Buffalo Center, Iowa, the daughter of Hugo and Ottilie (Kuckenbecher) Stenzel.

She was baptized on April 23, 1933, and confirmed March 30, 1947, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lakota, Iowa.

She graduated from Lakota High School &uot;Class of 1950&uot; and later attended Waldorf College and Luther College.

Helen taught elementary school for seven years in Titonka and Algona, Iowa.

On June 23, 1957, she was united in marriage to Ted A. Van Hove at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lakota, Iowa.

She was actively involved with church organizations.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, music, singing, playing piano, cooking, gardening and taking pictures.

She served as county chairperson for various political candidates.

Helen is survived by her husband, Ted of Leland, Iowa; his son, Steven Van Hove of Waukee, Iowa; his daughters: Ruth Ann Rosenwinkel and her husband Drake of Madison Lake, Minn., and Laura Jean Van Hove of Arlington, Va.; two grandchildren: Hannah and Mara Rosenwinkel; one brother, Alfred Stenzel and his wife Caroline of Iowa Falls, Iowa; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Edwin.

Memorials are preferred to: American Cancer Society, Mason City, Iowa, and Cross Roads Community Hospice, Albert Lea.
