Agnes Hedensten, 98, Albert Lea

Agnes Hedensten, age 98, formerly of Freeborn, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Albert Lea.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ in Freeborn. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells today, Jan. 24 from 5-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Freeborn Cemetery, Freeborn.
She was born March 6, 1904, in Carlston Township, Freeborn County, to William and Marie (Petersen) Christiansen.
She attended District #16 country school and graduated from Freeborn High School. She attended Normal School Training and Mankato State College. She taught in rural schools and fifth grade in Alden Public School.
She married Edward T. Hedensten on May 18, 1927, in Osage, Iowa.
She was a lifelong member of Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ where she taught Bible school and attended church circles. She enjoyed attending the grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s events, crocheting, reading and watching baseball and basketball games on TV. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by four children: one son, Roger (wife Vel) Hedensten of Albert Lea; three daughters: Delight and husband Keith Redman of Freeborn, Colleen and husband Jake (Marvin) Stenzel of Wells, and Vernell and husband Berdell Miller of Freeborn; 11 grandchildren: LeAnn and husband Brian Eastman, Val and husband Steve Seipp, Randy Stenzel, Brian and wife Bridget Stenzel, Dale Hedensten, Kevin and wife Elizabeth Redman, Doug and wife
Barbara Redman, Julie and husband Rick Jacobsen, Sheri and husband Dave Kuster, Karen and husband Peter Zimmerman, and Craig Hedensten; three step grandchildren: Steve Ross, David Ross and Sue Ury; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one step great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward, in 1987; brothers: Chris and George; sisters: Marie, and infant sister Agnes; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hedensten; and brothers- and sisters-in-law: Norvald and Alvina Olson, and Hans and Hilda Olson.
