Josie Brackey, senior, outside hitter, Lake Mills
Josie Brackey earned a consecutive Player of the Year award this season after leading second-ranked Lake Mills in kills (420), ace serves (74) and digs (254).
The senior was named twice to the All-State First Team and was on back-to-back Class 2A All-State Tournament Teams. Brackey was named to the All-North Iowa Conference Second Team as a sophomore and to the First Team the past two seasons.
Brackey led the Bulldogs to a 90-3 record over the past two seasons and consecutive state tournament berths. She averaged 3.75 kills per set this season, a 95 percent service rate and notched 28 blocks.
Morgan Fjelstad, senior, setter, Lake Mills
Morgan Fjelstad was named North Iowa Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season this year after leading the conference with 910 sets.
The senior was fifth in Class 2A in sets and averaged 8.13 per game. She also recorded 99 kills and 57 ace serves while serving at a 95 percent clip. Fjelstad notched 157 digs and 32 blocks.
Fjelstad was the leader of the Bulldogs quick-fire offense and was named to the All-State Second Team this season. She was selected to the All-NIC First Team each of the past three seasons and was part of the 2010 All-State Tournament Team.
Carlie Christianson, junior, outside hitter, Lake Mills
Carlie Christianson provided a spark to Lake Mills as an athletic and energetic outside hitter with a knack for blocking.
The junior was named to the All-North Iowa Conference Second Team after finishing second on the team in digs (209) and third in blocks (61). Christianson also recorded 50 set assists, 108 kills and 46 ace serves while serving at a team-high 97 percent clip.
Christianson was one of the most consistent players for Lake Mills this season and key in its 45-0 start to the season.
Shelby Kuper, senior, outsider hitter, Lake Mills
Shelby Kuper was named First Team All-North Iowa Conference this season after finishing second on the Bulldogs with 258 kills.
The senior recorded 26 blocks, 57 digs and 11 ace serves while serving at a 94 percent clip.
Anna Schlaak, senior, outside hitter, NRHEG
Anna Schlaak put up record-breaking numbers this season as the hard-hitting senior from New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.
Schlaak slammed 477 kills this season, besting her single-season school record of 377 that she set in 2009. Schlaak also finished with 1,381 career kills, more than twice the amount of anyone in school history.
The senior, who was also named the Player of the Year in 2009, became the school’s all-time digs leader, too, finishing with 741 for career after notching 289 this season.
Schlaak recorded 152 blocks this season and had 497 for her career, also the most all-time. She set a single-season record with 108 ace serves, crushing the previous record of 59, and finished with a record 194 for her career.
Noelle Bartness, junior, setter, NRHEG
Noelle Bartness set a single-season record for set assists this year with 882, eclipsing the previous record of 688, and averaged 9.6 per set. The junior now has 1,027 assists in her career.
Bartness was also second on the team with 37 ace serves, led the Panthers with a 97 percent service rate and was fourth with 96 digs.
