You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Many, many thanks: You did it — in just one week our supply for the RSVP knitting and crochet projects has been fully replenished. Thanks again for your speedy responses.
Bell ringer: You can help as a bell ringer for The Salvation Army raising funds to provide gifts that can make Christmas a better time for area residents. It’s a two-hour shift at Nelson’s Market Place, Shopko, Walmart or indoors at Hy-Vee and Northbridge Mall. Add your name to the schedule by calling Angie, 373-5710 at The Salvation Army.
Community Mentor Connection: Children at risk are waiting for mentors who can spend some quality time with them averaging two hours per week. The program offers training and organizes activities you can participate in together. Help make a difference in the life of a child! Another great way to get started would be to help plan events occasionally for mentors and children as you learn more about mentoring. Carolyn Smith coordinates this program; call 507-383-5272.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
