Cougars humble ALHS basketball boys

For the second game in a row, the Albert Lea High School boys’ basketball team endured a difficult loss.

But they were vastly different.

After dropping a one-point heartbreaker at Rochester Mayo, the Tigers were blown out 84-48 by Mankato East at ALHS Tuesday night.

The Cougars led from the start, with scores of 20-10, 43-17 and 65-30 at the breaks.

Albert Lea was 15-for-50 on field goals and 14-for-19 on free throws, East 29-for-51 and 16-for-24.

Ben Woodside led the Tigers with 15 points. Sophomore Mike Behrends scored nine.

Nate Harstad scored 20 to lead the Cougars.

Albert Lea, 5-5 overall and 1-5 in the Big Nine, plays at Austin Friday.
