Murder suspect Eric Douglas Esse, 33, of Albert Lea, refused to waive extradition proceedings in the county district court Thursday.

Judge James Broberg ordered to hold Esse without bond, changing the originally set $182,500 bail.

Esse is being sought by authorities in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, in connection with a murder that occurred on Thanksgiving Day, in which 44-year-old Tim Mammen of Plymouth, Iowa, was fatally shot in head. Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office arrested Esse Wednesday.

Esse will face the first-degree murder and first-degree robbery charges if returned to Iowa. Without waiving, a formal extradition process could take up to 30 days with a possibility of a further extension.
