Harvey V. Brandt, 78, Wells

Funeral services for Harvey V. Brandt, age 78, of Wells, will be 10:30 a.m.

Thursday, Dec. 12, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minnesota Lake Township, Faribault County. The Rev. Henry Hendricks will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

Interment will be in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Minnesota Lake Township, Faribault County.

He died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.

Harvey was born April 29,1924, in Dunbar Township, Faribault County, to Julius and Lena (Budach) Brandt. He married Beatrice Stern on Nov. 22,1944, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wells.

Harvey was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. He attended country school in Dunbar Township, Faribault County, through the eighth grade. He farmed all of his life and also worked at Wells Concrete. Harvey was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, playing cards, “old time music”, and watching baseball on TV. He especially loved his family, and watching his grandson stockcar race.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Brandt of Wells; two daughters: Janice Ignaszewski Nienow and husband Bob Nienow of Mapleton, and Sheryl and her husband David Ignaszewski of Owatonna; seven grandchildren: Jay and his wife Donna Ignaszewski of Woodbury, Jolene and her husband Pat Bute of Alden, Jon and his wife Christy Ignaszewski of Wells, Jeff Ignaszewski of Wells, Stacy Ignaszewski of Geneva, Daren Ignaszewski of Owatonna, and Laura Brandt of Mankato; two step-grandchildren: Rachel and Aries Slechta of Waseca; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen and her husband John Murray of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Roger Brandt of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Marlys and Bob Tolzmann of Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Curtis, in 1978; daughter-in-law, Eileen Brandt Slechta; son-in-law, Jerome Ignaszewski, and a brother in infancy.
