WELLS &045; With a crowd of almost 70 awaiting news on the results of an investigation of Superintendent Frank Lorentz at Monday night’s USC school board meeting, board chairman Pat Staloch read a statement telling those in attendance that nothing had been resolved at a closed-door meeting Monday, and that the board would be going into a closed session again to make a decision.

&uot;We have received a great deal of information that we must have time to digest,&uot; Staloch read. &uot;Therefore, we will be scheduling another closed meeting, the date and time of which you will be advised. In the interim we are prohibited by data privacy laws from discussing or divulging anything regarding this matter, including the name of the subject of this meeting.&uot;

The board’s Twin-Cities law firm, Knutson, Flynn and Deans PA, just finished conducting an investigation, during which they interviewed students and teachers.

Faribault County law officials are carrying out an investigation of their own, according to Staloch.

Lorentz’s personal conduct involving students is the subject of the investigations.

The board has chosen not to put Lorentz on a leave of absence because they don’t feel there is a problem at this time, according to Staloch.

Staloch said after the meeting that he expects the second closed-door meeting to occur within the next two weeks.

Staloch said the board decided to hire a private law firm, even though there was a county investigation, in order to do everything they could do as a board.

He said the students in the school are at no risk at this time due to the investigation of the matters that are being discussed in the closed-door meetings.

The board has now received all the information about the investigation from the firm, and now must come to a decision on what action, if any, to take in the case.
