Christ M. Broskoff, 91, Albert Lea

Christ M. Broskoff, age 91, longtime resident of Albert Lea, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at St. John’s in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gregory Ciesluk will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Home, Albert Lea and one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow interment at the United Methodist Church.

Christ was born Feb. 12, 1911, the son of Frank and Mary (Cherepenekova) Proskurin, in Russia. He was an 89-year resident of Freeborn County and lived in Albert Lea for 68 years. He worked for Wilson Meat Packing Company for 40 years.

Christ was married in 1934 to Lois Bull of Waseca. They had five children. In 1964 Christ and Alice Halvorson were married and later divorced. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was also a longtime member of the AFL/CIO Union and a member of the Albert Lea Chapter of Odd Fellows. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, collecting and selling antiques and he enjoyed helping others. He truly loved children.

Christ is survived by his five children. His two sons, Christopher (Frank) and his wife, Lanh of Boca Raton, Fla.; Robert and his wife, Sherry of Albert Lea; his three daughters, Helen and her husband, Paul Espe of Spring Grove, Minn.; Jeanne and her husband, Charles Huff of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; and Ruth and her husband, Jack Beighley of Woodburn, Ore. His survivors also include 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois, who died in 1954; his parents; brothers, Mike Broskoff and Aleck Broskoff; sisters, Pauline Grey, Esther Egland and Mary Leonhardi; six brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law; four nephews, two nieces and one great-grandson.

He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. All will sincerely miss him.

The family wishes to thank everyone at St. John’s for the wonderful care they have given to our father and grandfather. Also to all who have taken the time to visit with Christ over all the years.
