Laurine C. Christ, age 81, of Wells, died on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at her home in rural Wells of complications of cancer. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m.
Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Mrs. Christ was born May 31,1921 in Seely Township, Faribault Co., Minn. to Ervin and Josie (Johnson) Jacobson. She attended the Bricelyn School system and graduated In 1940. Mrs. Christ married David Christ on Aug. 23, 1942, in Albert Lea.
Laurine was active in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells where she served as president of the ELCA Women’s Group. She was the primary Sunday school superintendent and president of the Chain of Lakes Conference of the ELCA. She was active in the Wells PTA and was in officer of the Wells Hospital Auxiliary. She was the Clark Township Assessor in Faribault County. Among her joys were flower gardening and sewing. She was a member of the Mankato branch of the American Sewing Guild. She designed and made clothes for friends, made acolyte and choir gowns for Good Shepherd Church and had an extensive collection of dolls dressed in outfits she designed and sewed. She also enjoyed contributing to the Holidays Ahead days with her Circle No. 31 friends at First Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband David Christ of Wells; two daughters and their children, Linda Christ of Boca Rotan, Fla. and children Justin Johnson, Boca Rotan, Fla. and Shannon Johnson, Chicago, Ill., and Penny and husband Robert Whereatt of Shoreview, Minn. and their children Jennifer and husband Jeff Draeger, Jacksonville, Fla. and David Whereatt, St. Louis Park, Minn.; one sister in California; and several nieces, nephews, several aunts and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Arrangements are by the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.
