Albert Lea Thunder forward Anthony Iaquinto was named the Sherwood/NAHL Central Player of the Week following a weekend where the Thunder won both their games and gained two points on fourth place North Iowa to close within three points of the final playoff spot in the division.

Iaquinto scored three times in two games, scoring once in a 5-2 victory over the Outlaws Friday and twice against Kenai River in a 4-3 victory Saturday.

It marked the second time this season Iaquinto has won the honor.

Iaquinto has scored 12 goals in 21 games since joining the Thunder and has scored 16 goals and recorded 13 assists.

Albert Lea defenseman Derek Docken also was named to the honorable mention list after he recorded two assists Friday and one Saturday.

Docken has two goals and 16 assists this season in 49 games and a plus/minus rating of plus-19.

The Thunder face North Iowa for a three-game set this weekend. The first two will be played in Mason City and the final game at City Arena Sunday.
