Haug named all-conference at Luther

Decorah, Iowa &045; Phil Haug, a senior on the Luther College men’s golf team, compiled a stroke average of 78.4 during Luther’s fall season.
An Albert Lea High School graduate, Haug played 17 rounds for the Norse, posting an average of 78.7, second lowest on the team. He also earned all-conference honors with a sixth-place finish at the 72-hole Iowa Conference Championship. Luther tied for seventh of 12 teams at both the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational Sept. 12-13 and the UW-Eau Claire Bluegold Tournament Sept. 22-23, and finished eighth of 21 teams at the Gustavus Twin Cities Classic Sept. 28-30.
The Norse begin their spring season in March with a trip to Orlando, Fla.
Haug is a 1999 graduate of ALHS. He is the son of Mike and Karen Haug of Fargo, N.D.
Luther is a four-year liberal arts college located in Decorah, Iowa. The Norse compete in 10 men’s and nine women’s intercollegiate sports.
As a member of the Iowa Conference since 1922, Luther has won more conference championships, 174, than any school in the league. The men have won 132 conference championships. In 1982 the IIAC expanded its championship sponsorship to include women’s sports. During this time span, the women have won 42 team titles.
