John Evans Lynne, 85, Hartland

The funeral service for John Evans Lynne will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, Hartland. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Burial will be in the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Evans died on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. He was 85 years old.
Evans was born on the family farm in Hartland Township, Freeborn County on Nov. 20, 1916, the son of Paul and Bertha (Evans) Lynne. He attended Hartland School. He was a baptized and confirmed member of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church. A special memory for him was attending the Chicago World’s Fair at the age of 16.
On April 11, 1943, Evans was united in marriage with Gertrude Louise Springer at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They farmed the family farm in Hartland Township.
Evans had a great interest in his community and had been a member of Albert Lea War Dads, Albert Lea Sons of Norway, and Hartland Senior Citizens. His hobbies included visiting friends and family, reading, and woodworking.
Evans is survived by three sons: Paul Lynne and his wife Linda of Hartland,
Mark Lynne and his wife Lois of Hyde Park, Utah, and Earl Lynne and his wife, Ann of Hartland; eight grandchildren: Chris, Rebecca and Eric of Hartland, Andrew, Bret and Corey of Hyde Park, Utah, and Kevin and Gene of Hartland; two sisters: Connie Hoyne of Albert Lea, and Marcella Paulsen and her husband Bernard of Lowville, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
Evans was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrude, in 1980; one brother-in-law, Herbert Hoyne.
Evans will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Blessed be his memory.
