Rayner Joseph Reichert, 84, Blooming Prairie

Rayner Joseph Reichert, age 84, of Blooming Prairie, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Austin Medical Center in Austin.
He was born June 23, 1918, to Frank and Frances (Shoemaker) Reichert in Long Prairie, Minn. He attended schools in Long Prairie and St. Thomas University, before receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Minnesota in 1943. He married Mildred T. Furman on Feb. 27, 1960. at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church in Albert Lea. A registered pharmacist for 36 years, Mr. Reichert retired on April 1, 1980, after owning and operating Reichert’s Drug Store in Blooming Prairie from 1957 to 1980. Following his retirement the couple loved to travel spending their winters in Mesa, Ariz. Mildred died on Aug. 7, 1999. He belonged to St. Columbanus Church. Other interests included woodworking, fishing, golfing and playing pool.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; and a sister, Sister Peggy Reichert.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Columbanus Church, Blooming Prairie, with the Rev. Richard Dernek officiating. Interment will be at St. Theodore’s Catholic Cemetery in Albert Lea. Friends may call at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Columbanus Catholic Church or Prairie Manor Nursing Home, both of Blooming Prairie.
