Beatrice A. Haugen Nelson, 90, Glenville

Funeral services for Beatrice &uot;Beats&uot; Nelson, age 90, formerly of Glenville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at the First Lutheran Church, Glenville. The Rev. Mark Wendland will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Beatrice died on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Beatrice A. Nelson was born on Oct. 20, 1911 in Glenville, the daughter of Albert and Adelia (Kalstad) Haugen. Beats graduated from the Albert Lea High School in 1929. On Oct. 15, 1932, she was married to Irving Nelson at the Glenville Lutheran Church. Beats worked managing A&W root beer stands and made many friends with the young girls. She also worked in several Ben Franklin Stores. Beats and Irving lived in many states out west before moving to Sherburn, Minn. and then to Glenville, which was always her favorite home. Beats followed Irving from one army base to another while he was in the service. Beats was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Glenville.
Survivors include her brother Carl and his wife Beryle Haugen of Fairmont; her nephew Bruce and his wife Jeannette Haugen of Sherburn; great-nieces and nephews Stephen Haugen of Denver Colo., Christine Mandleco of Ogden, Utah, and Jacquelyn Haugen of Sherburn; cousins Al Gravelie of Cedar Rapids, Nadine Londeen of Minneapolis, Jack Kalstad of Glenville, Paul Kalstad of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Winnie Mellum of Sarona, Wis.; as well as several other cousins; her very special friends, Arlo and Julie Wallin of Glenville; and many friends and caregivers at the Good Samaritan Center.
Beats was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Irving, and her sister-in-law Georgia Haugen.
