Eunice A. Evenson, 73, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Eunice A. Evenson, age 73, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25,
at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Hagen will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eunice died Monday, July 22, 2002, at her home.
Eunice Arlene Evenson was born July 16, 1929, to Alfred and Mabel (Egland) Holstad in Emmons. She attended school in Emmons and graduated from Emmons High School. On March 27, 1952, Eunice was united in marriage to Marvin G. Evenson in Albert Lea. Eunice had been employed at the Albert Lea Tribune, Peoples Savings & Loan, Freeborn County Abstract, Albert Lea Technical College, and Wal-Mart. She had also worked in real estate. For a few years, Eunice and Marvin had owned the Boy Blue Treat Store in the Skyline Mall. She had been a member of Silver Lake Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church and the Elks. Eunice enjoyed camping, spending time with family and friends, and visiting with anyone and everyone. She was the 81st heart transplant recipient at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis on May 27, 1989.
Survivors include her children: Jerry Evenson of Rochester, Nancy Lowe and husband Steve of Atlanta, Ga., Tom Evenson and wife Robin of Albert Lea, Beth Gaetze and husband Michael of Peoria, Ariz., and Michelle Evenson of Albert Lea; brother, Mervin Holstad and wife Margarett of Spicer, Minn.; 10 grandchildren: Teresa Malakowsky, Shawn Helvig, Jeremy Helvig, Tessa Helvig, Rakshita Evenson, Aruna Evenson, Justin Gaetze, Josh Talamantes, Stephanie Okland, and Brooke M. Talamantes; and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marv; and an infant son.
