Funeral services for Harold A. Johnson, age 81, of Hampton, Iowa formerly of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/ Freeborn Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen’s Organization. Visitation will be Monday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
Harold died on Friday at the Hampton Care Center.
Harold A. Johnson was born on Aug. 30,1920 in Dodge Center, Minn., the son of Henry and Ethel (Clark) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Dodge Center, Minn. Harold served his country during World War II from 1942 until his discharge in 1954. On Nov. 16, 1946 Harold was united in marriage to Dorothy B. Yennie in West Concorde, Minn. Harold worked for the State of Minnesota in road maintenance. He loved to visit and drink coffee with his many friends, fishing, hunting and camping in his younger years. Harold was a member of the VFW, DAV and the United Methodist Church of Albert Lea.
Harold is survived by his children, David Johnson, Denver, Iowa, Shirley and husband Edward Hert Sr., Hampton, Iowa. Sister, Irene Wilson, West Concorde, Minn. Brothers; Allan and wife Beth Johnson, Dodge Center, Minn., Herbert and wife Mary Johnson, Owatonna, Minn., Henry and wife Opal Johnson. Dodge Center, Minn., Harry Johnson, Bovey, Minn. and Wesley Johnson, Rochester, Minn. And by four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy, one sister, six brothers, and one grandson.
