To the Albert Lea High School wrestling team.

What a comeback! The Tigers came from behind to beat the Owatonna Huskies in a wrestling rivalry that offers annual excitement — and is a contest that the Tigers usually seem to win. The Albert Lea grapplers trailed 17-7, and things were looking bad. However, senior Brody Sunblad pulled off an upset that swung the momentum of the evening toward the Tigers. And freshman Triston Westerlund beat a ranked Husky, keeping that momentum going. You never know who is going to step up and perform. Then Dalton Westerlund’s pinning of Coyte Kuefner secured the victory. Way to go, boys!

To the closing of the Montessori preschool.

A victim of the struggling economy, the Montessori Children’s House on West Main Street in Albert Lea will be missed. There were four pupils this fall when it had about 45 at its peak. The school offered Montessori-style education, which encourages independence and offers hands-on education, to children ages 2 1/2 to 6. It was a choice for early childhood education that sadly no longer will be available for local parents.

To the mock trial program at Albert Lea High School.

This program is getting a reputation of being outstanding, and now it needs to live up to that reputation. An Albert Lea mock trial team nearly beat a national champion last year. Locals have high hopes and, thus, high interest in the program. We wish you the best, and we believe you will go far again this year. Make your best arguments.
