Albert Lea divers finished 2nd
The Albert Lea boys’ swimming and diving team placed 12th on Saturday in the Albert Lea Tiger Relays Invitational.
The Tigers finished with 80 points in the 13-team tournament held at Albert Lea High School, 16 points ahead of Winona. Rochester Century won the event with 187.
Albert Lea’s diving team finished second overall, led by Kyle Zogg’s 156.5 points, good for fifth individually. The team’s Brody Sundblad finished eighth with 149 points and Bennett Stadheim placed with 24th with 82.9.
The Tigers’ best finish in the pool was in the 300-yard medley relay. The team of Corbin Schultz, Preston Smith and Daniel Gould placed seventh overall in three minutes and 24.12 seconds. The threesome finished 3/100th of a second behind sixth-place Austin.
Albert Lea placed eighth in two events including the 300-yard butterfly relay and 300-yard backstroke relay. The butterfly team of Smith, Schultz and Isaac Olson finished in 3:25.02, and the backstroke team of Schultz, Olson and Holcomb finished in 3:22.88.
The Tigers compete again at 6 p.m. on Thursday against Mankato East in Albert Lea.
