Audres Vivian Tufte, 89, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Audres V. Tufte, age 89, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Hagen will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 1, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Audres died Friday, June 28, 2002, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Audres Vivian Tufte was born Nov. 26, 1912, to Erick and Tillie (Handland) Waage in Roland, Iowa. She attended school in Delavan. In 1929, Audres was united in marriage to Edgar R. Bachtle. The couple operated the Bachtle Home Bakery and the Dew Drop Inn in Albert Lea. On May 5, 1953, Audres married Orville Tufte in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple owned and operated the Potosi Inn, Austin. She had worked for Land O’Lakes and KATE radio. Audres was a member of First Lutheran Church and had been on the Caring and Sharing Committee. She was a charter member of the Eagles’ Auxiliary, a member of the “Kitchen Band,” and had been a captain of the Drill Team. Audres was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. The last several years she had been involved with Senior Resources.
Survivors include her husband, Orville; children: Janis Reeder of Albert Lea, Darlene Anderson and her husband Arnold of Bricelyn, Arliss Bachtle and his wife Maxine of Albert Lea, Gary Bachtle and his wife Molly of Northwood, Iowa, and Lanny Bachtle and his wife Joan of Shawnee, Kan.; 24 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Loren “Bud” Waage and his wife Betty of Ellendale.
Audres was preceded in death by her parents; infant sons: Ronald Bachtle and Thomas Tufte; former husband, Edgar; son-in-law, Steve Reeder; and sister, Mavis Kain.
