Irene Anderson, the Secretary of the Freeborn County Administrator, will challenge incumbent County Recorder Kelly Callahan in this fall’s elections.
Being a county employee for 17 years, Anderson emphasized her familiarity with the county’s business and employees.
With her experience in the administration and interaction with county commissioners, Anderson said she has a clear idea about how crucial decisions are made in the local government.
&uot; The recorder’s job affects a lot of people,&uot; said Anderson. She pledged to improve the efficiency of the service and reduce filing congestion by employing her computer literacy and management skills acquired through the county job and a woodcraft business she operates at home.
Anderson, 49, is a mother of three with five grandchildren in Riceland Township. Before working for the county, she had farmed for 13 years.
