Ramsey Co. solicits architects for Vikings stadium

ST. PAUL — The Ramsey County Board voted Tuesday to find out which architects might be interested in developing plans for a Minnesota Vikings stadium in Arden Hills.
The location of a new stadium has not been settled. But, supporters of the Arden Hills site say the “request for qualifications” from architects sends a message to the Legislature, competitors and others that Ramsey County is eager to partner with the Vikings to locate a new stadium at the former munitions site.
Commissioner Toni Carter was among board members opposed to soliciting architectural interest, saying it’s premature.
The Vikings’ lease at the Metrodome expires at the end of the year. No one has approved a stadium financing plan and other proposed sites in Minneapolis are still in the mix.
