Elden ‘Bud’ Arthur Beyer, 77, Wells

Funeral services for Elden &uot;Bud&uot; Arthur Beyer, age 77, of Wells, will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, at the United Methodist Church in Wells. The Rev. Kenneth Haack will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Thursday, May 30, from 4-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery, Foster Township, Farlbault County.
Bud died Monday, May 27, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, where he had been a resident for the past two weeks.
He was born on July 30, 1924, to Arthur and Adeline (Sydow) Beyer in Brush Creek Township, Faribault County.
Bud was baptized and confirmed at the Rice Lake EUB Church, rural Wells, where he was a longtime member. He graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1942. On Aug. 28, 1946, he married Juanita Simon at the Rice Lake Church. He was a dairy and crop farmer all of his life on a farm north of Bricelyn. He was a member of the Bricelyn Elevator Board, Kiester Creamery Board, and a 4-H leader for many years. He was presently a member of the United Methodist Church in Wells. He was an annual conference delegate, Lay Leader, member of the church choir, and held many other leadership roles in his church. He was also a volunteer of the KJLY Prayer Line. In 1993, Bud and Juanita moved from their farm to their present home in Wells. Bud had a love of his family, friends and the Lord. He enjoyed playing “Rook” with family and friends, gospel music, and always had a smile and kind word for all he met.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita H. Beyer of Wells; four children: James and wife Sue Beyer of Brownsdale, Marilyn and husband Stan Sabin of Austin, Debra and husband Mark Pluim of Rollingstone, Minn., and Craig and wife Mary Beyer of Bricelyn; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Alvera Lorenz of Mason City, Iowa; one uncle, Walter Beyer of Blue Earth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Helen Bangert and Lois Beyer.
