Colonels beat Blues, fall to Blue Sox

Albert Lea lost to the Austin Blue Sox Friday 6-5 in 10 innings.
After falling behind early, the Colonels responded with three runs in the eighth to take the lead 5-4.
That inning, Jared Matson led off with a base hit, Colby Strilaeff drove him in and Carter Kortan singled to score Strilaeff and tie the game at four. Kortan scored the go ahead run on a throwing error by the Austin pitcher.
The Blue Sox scored a run in the eighth to tie the game and again in the tenth to win.
Nick Hagen pitched six innings, giving up three runs on six hits, four of which came in the fourth inning. Hagen struck out five and walked one.
Ryan Wangen led the Colonels offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double. Zac Oquist and Carter Kortan were both 2-for-5.
Thursday night, The Colonels picked up their first win of the season against the Rochester Blues, winning 5-4.
Strilaeff pitched eight innings, giving up 11 hits while striking out four and walking three.
Albert Lea got all of their runs in the fourth inning.
Logan Kortan had a two run single that inning, Cole Sorenson had an RBI single and Connor Kortan drew an RBI walk.
Carter Kortan was the only Colonel with multiple hits, going 2-for-4.
Albert Lea is in action again at 8 p.m. Tuesday at New Richland.
