Here are highlights in history for Dec. 26, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1987 — A map on the Tribune’s front page showed there were 17 telephone exchanges operated by seven companies in Freeborn County.
1977 — The Albert Lea Police Department and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office said 22 fender-bender accidents were reported over the four-day Christmas period. Luckily, they reported there were no injuries.
1967 — Albert Lea’s Freemond Madson Post 447 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars distributed baskets of food to 15 local families.
