It’s a project that could cost the taxpayers of the county millions, but one that must be addressed if the community is to have a suitable jail, court facility and couty office space.

The courthouse problems have been making headlines for years, and now, county commissioners appear close to settling on a course of action. But before that happens, the county will make an effort to inform the public and gather input on the project, and one method begins this week when public meetings on the subject start.

The sessions, which are planned Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 1 p.m. and next Wednesday, April 17, at 8 a.m., will be a chance for residents to have any questions answered by county officials. The meetings are in the board room on the lower level of the courthouse.

With so much at stake, and so much public interest in the project, this is an opportunity for anybody to find out more about what is being proposed.
