Pelvit to return after two-week absence

Allen Pelvit, executive director of the Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled to be back in the office starting Monday. He had been on a medical leave of absence since the beginning of March.

Chamber of Commerce staff and board members are probably going to be glad he’s back, as they were filling in for him while he was away. Marge Hamersly also filled in for Pelvit at public meetings and represented the chamber at a number of events, said Randy Kehr, chamber board chairman.

Tami Riecke and Leann Yakle kept the office open and assumed some extra duties. Executive committee members also took on some extra responsibilities, he said.

&uot;The office staff did a great job of keeping things running smoothly, and Barb Craig and Jim Pilgrim from the Visitors and Convention Bureau also stepped in to help,&uot; said Kehr. &uot;A lot of people just pulled together to make it work.&uot;
