AUSTIN – Riverland Community College has named Austin native David Meyer as its new head baseball coach. His coaching responsibilities include conducting practices, coordinating athlete conditioning, travel with the team and other related responsibilities. Riverland baseball practice began Friday.

Meyer has been active in baseball his entire life. He is a former Riverland baseball athlete and played professionally the last four years: from 1999-2000 in the Northern League in North Dakota and from 2000-2002 in the Los Angeles Dodgers system. He is currently a member of the Canton, Ohio Frontier League.

&uot;David brings us some outstanding credentials and as a former Riverland student-athlete, he understands the level and competition in our league,&uot; said RCC Men’s Athletic Director David Lillemon. &uot;He will bring plenty of knowledge and energy from his playing experiences that we need right now in our baseball program. I am confident his leadership will greatly benefit the students at Riverland Community College.&uot;

Meyer earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration with specializations in management and psychology from Mayville State College in Mayville, N.D.
