Again, the offense was more than adequate for the Albert Lea High School girls’ hockey team. So was the goaltending and defense.
The Tigers registered their third consecutive shutout and fourth in their last five games with a 6-0 triumph over Mankato West Saturday at the City Arena.
&uot;This was a big game we needed to win,&uot; said ALHS coach Mike Miller. &uot;Three shutouts in a row is very, very impressive.&uot;
Danika Porter was again in goal for the Tigers, who outshot West 40-18.
Laura Hillman led the offense with six points on a goal and five assists. Jasey Porter scored two goals, Tessa Christensen and Amy Leach one apiece. Brittany Arendt and Christensen also had assists.
&uot;We moved the puck very well again,&uot; said Miller. &uot;We went back to what we do well. We anticipated, our defensemen got off a lot of shots, we just played well as a team.&uot;
The junior varsity tied 2-2, running its record to 5-5-1 in the Big Nine and 9-7-1 overall.
The Tigers, 9-4-1 in the conference and 14-5-1 overall, play at Faribault Tuesday.
