St. John’s Auxiliary

St. John’s Auxiliary met at 2 p.m. Dec. 12 in St. John’s Chapel. President Carol Rask welcomed everyone. Devotions were given by the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagermeister. Becky Nordland on piano led the group in singing “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.”

Auxiliary secretary Bonnie Schneider read the minutes of the November meeting. Treasurer Lorraine Schaper gave the treasurer’s report. Reports were approved.

Volunteer Coordinator Carla Reichel reported 939 1/2 volunteer hours for November. Day care had 18 hours, three You & Me Clubs and one Sing Along. She reported that the volunteer for the year was Darrel Wrolson.

Diane Wichmann, activities director, reported on activities for residents: Historical museum visit, First Lutheran Church for Christmas service and Communion, Christmas pageant and Christmas party with residents and their families.

Vice President Caroline Sorenson read the names of residents celebrating December birthdays: Doloris Wire, Harold Petersen, Hazel Doyle, Benjamin Anderson, Ronald Devlin, Elizabeth Thimmesch, Mona Reiss, Carroll Sprenger, Janice Thompson, Merlin Wirkus, Shiriey Beck, Marlys Johnson, Mary B. Johnson, Debra Trytten, Howard Brua, Alice Lageson, Olga Kral, Virginia Thomas, Jewell Thompson, Martin Mulso, Loma Anderson, Calvin Dammen and Lawrence Kimpell.

The churches that were thanked for serving Sunday coffee were Ascension Lutheran, Bethlehem Lutheran and Hayward Lutheran.

The program was provided by St. John’s Activities Department. Slides were shown of activities at St. John’s with thank you to everyone who helps with the residents. Heather Wirkus sang “O Holy Night.” Mary and Heather Wirkus sang “White Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Let It Snow.” The activities group led a sing-a-long: “Jingle Bells,” “O Christmas Tree” and “Up on the House Top.”

The Auxiliary Board served mocha cakes with the St. John’s Dietary Department.

The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
