ST. CLOUD – Five of the eight wrestling teams in the St. Cloud Tech Kiffmeyer Duals have been rated among the best in the state.

The Tigers defeated Brainerd 47-24 and Hutchinson 39-22 while falling to Waconia 38-21 in Saturday’s tournament.
&uot;As a team we wrestled together all day,&uot; said coach Larry Goodnature. &uot;We had to move some guys up to wrestle over their weight to get the right matchups, so some guys lost for that move but it paid off.&uot;
Four Tigers went undefeated for the day: Josh Hansen, Brandon Klukow, Adam Elseth and Justin Krueger. Elseth remained unbeaten for the season.
The Tigers faced Waconia in the first round. Winning for Albert Lea were Hansen, 103 pounds; Klukow, 125; Elseth, 135; Adam Morreim, 140; and Krueger, 160.

&uot;I really like the way this team goes for the majors, tech falls and falls, and even in a loss the kids never quit,&uot; said Coach Goodnature. &uot;There is room for improvement as a team and individuals. We need to cut down on our mistakes.&uot;
The varsity improved to 9-6 in dual meets while the junior varsity ran its record to 18-4 by winning two of three. The JV beat Hutchinson 63-9 and St. Cloud Tech 43-18, falling 46-22 to Cambridge-Isanti.
