When you give to the United Way of Freeborn County, you can be assured your money is going to an organization that is non-profit; a tax-exempt charity governed by volunteers and that submits to an annual, independent financial audit and maintains a policy of nondiscrimination.

The United Way of Freeborn County is one of 1,400 community-based United Way organizations in the country and is proud to be part of a campaign which reached a new high nationally in 2000/2001 of $3.91 billion. This was the fifth consecutive year that campaign growth outpaced inflation.

Sources of revenue continue to largely be reliant on gifts from employees of corporations. Leading the charge nationally is the United Parcel Service with $47,473,570. The average leadership gift in 2000 was $1,282 and remained constant since the previous year.

Please note, too, the United Way locally and nationally could not be where it is today without the thousands of volunteers. An estimated 3.1 million people volunteered in United Way last year. This includes board members, loan executives, campaign volunteers and United Way agency volunteers.

So remember when you are considering a gift this year to the United Way of Freeborn County, you are not only helping the 16 agencies serve their clients, but you are also much part of a bigger system – one raising millions of dollars to serve ‘Real People with Real Lives who seek Real Results.’ Please give generously this year to the United Way of Freeborn County. We are counting on you.
