Friday, Sept. 21
*&160;The Freeborn County DFL is having a spaghetti feed from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Union Center. Cost is $4 for adults and $1.50 for children 4-12 years. Children 3 and under eat free. Local and state DFL leaders will be attending.
*&160;A spaghetti supper fund-raiser for the education programs for the Freeborn County Historical Museum and the Big Island Rendezvous Education Days 2001 will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Club in Albert Lea. The dinner will include spaghetti, meat sauce, garlic bread, salad, dessert and a beverage. The cost of the meal is $5 for adults and $3 for children 11 and under. It will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
*&160;The Pelican Breeze will hold a pizza cruise at 6 p.m. Reservations are needed by 4 p.m.; call 377-5076. The cost is $11 for adults and $6 for children.
*&160;The Fourth Annual Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America Albert Lea Bluegrass Family Weekend will present a concert at 8 p.m. at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. The cost is $8 per person, and children under 12 will be admitted free. Six bands from Missouri and Minnesota will appear in concert during this three-day event.
Saturday, Sept. 22
*&160;The Albert Lea Farmers’ Market opens at 9 a.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Fresh produce, jams, jellies and baked goods are available for sale.
*&160;The annual pet walk-a-thon fund raiser for the Humane Society of Freeborn County is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It starts at Frank Hall Park and runs along Front Street to the Blazing Star Trail. Anyone is welcome, even those who don’t have a pet or don’t want to walk the trail. Admission is on a donation basis; however, at least $5 would be appreciated as the Humane Society is always in need of supplies. In exchange for a donation, a bandana and goodie bag will be given to your pet. All proceeds will go toward vet bills, food and saving for a permanent shelter. For a pledge sheet, call 377-8501, or pick one up at Dr. Dan Smith’s veterinary office, Wells Fargo Bank or at Hy-Vee on the bulletin board.
*&160;The Albert Lea Skate Park will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for bikers only and from 2-6 p.m. for skateboards and in-line skaters only.
*&160;The Bluegrass Family Weekend continues at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds with shows from 1-5 p.m. and 7-11 p.m. Cost is $8 per person or afternoon or evening, and children under 12 will be admitted free. A ticket good for both day and evening concerts is $10.

Sunday, Sept. 23
*&160;Living Word Christian Church will have a pancake brunch at the Albert Lea Family Y from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The menu includes pancakes, ham, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. Tickets are $4 for adults, $2.50 for ages 5-12 and free for ages 4 and under. Proceeds will go to the Albert Lea Salvation Army and Sudan relief through Samaritan’s Purse.
*&160;The Bluegrass Family Weekend continues at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds with a Gospel sing from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost is $6 per person, and children under 12 will be admitted free. A ticket good for both day and evening concerts is $10.
*&160;The Church of All Saints in New Richland will hold its fall festival. A polka Mass will begin at 10 a.m. A turkey dinner will be served from 11:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Preschoolers eat free. Take-out meals are available. There will also be fun for the whole family at the New Richland American Legion from noon-4 p.m. Activities include a carnival, auction, bingo, drawings and a country store.
