GLENVILLE – According to coach Bob Staska, it was the best overall game of the season for the Glenville-Emmons softball team.
That’s saying a lot.
It’s awful tough to match Jill Delger’s pitching performance.
The junior right-hander threw a no-hitter Tuesday as the Wolverines 10-runned a strong Southland squad 10-0 in five innings at Glenville.
&uot;Southland was 8-4 in the conference – it was a big win for us, really,&uot; said coach Bob Staska.
It was the second no-hitter of the season for G-E, though the first was a five-inning affair shared to Delger, Jessica Claussen and Megan Avery in a 28-1 season-opening win over Medford.
On Tuesday, Delger struck out five and walked one while allowing only three baserunners.
&uot;She pitched real well (Monday) in our 2-1 win, so I was a little concerned about today,&uot; said Staska. &uot;But she came back and did it again. She kept the ball down and had them hitting it on the ground.&uot;
Fallon Lorenzen and Jill Yost were both 2-for-3 for the Wolverines. Jolene Peterson went 2-for-4 with a triple. Brooke Erickson and Sheri Lair had one hit each.
The Wolverines meet Medford Thursday at 4:30 at Glenville.
