KENSETT, Iowa – A Worth County man is missing after authorities discovered his jeep rolled over in a ditch a mile northeast of Kensett.
The crash probably occurred sometime after midnight Saturday morning, authorities said
According to the Worth County Sheriff’s Office in Northwood, Stephen M. Batrud, 22, Kensett, has been missing since Friday. The man’s father called the sheriff’s office Saturday morning to report him missing, and deputies found the vehicle a short time later – about 1 p.m.
It is not known whether Batrud suffered any injuries in the rollover. It appeared that Batrud had been the only occupant, said Worth County Sheriff David Gentz. Investigators still have no leads, he said.
Batrud’s name and description have been entered in the national missing persons database, and local authorities have been notified to be on the lookout, said Gentz.
Batrud is 5-feet 9-inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information about Batrud’s whereabouts should contact the Worth County Sheriff’s Office at 641-324-2481.
