Two Albert Lea men face three felonies in connection with an assault with a baseball bat this past weekend.
According to the criminal complaints, Hector Alanzo Estrada, 20, 1912 Marshall St. S.E., is charged with burglary in the first degree, assault in the second degree – dangerous weapon, and assault in the second degree – weapon and bodily harm.
Jesus Manual Camacho, 23, 718 1 Ave. S., is charged with aiding and abetting burglary in the first degree, aiding and abetting assault in the second degree – dangerous weapon, and aiding and abetting assault in the second degree – weapons and bodily harm, according to the court records.
The alleged assaults occurred in a home on the 400 block of W. College Street at 1:30 a.m. Saturday. After responding to a fight call at the home, officers learned of the assaults and pursued Estrada and Camacho, apprehending them after a short foot chase.
There were three victims, two male, ages 21 and 23, and a pregnant 22-year-old female, according to police. One male was transported to Albert Lea Medical Center with head and torso injuries, and the female was also transported for treatment.
An investigation revealed at least two subjects went to the residence wanting to party after a dance at the Union Center. The occupants of the home asked them to leave, and after a brief argument, the suspects left after making some threats.
A short time later, at least three subjects returned to the residence, one of them with a baseball bat, according to police.
They allegedly forced their way into the apartment where Estrada allegedly hit a male victim with a baseball bat at least three times. Estrada also allegedly pushed the pregnant woman.
Camacho aided Estrada in the assault, the records allege.
A third victim was also allegedly assaulted. The suspects then fled as police arrived.
Camacho allegedly told a police officer that he was asleep when Estrada woke him, soliciting his help in the alleged assault, according to court documents.
