Cathy died peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2010, after struggling with cancer since September. She was 73.
She was born on March 29, 1937, in Los Angeles, the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Wright) Koepp.
She graduated from high school in Los Angeles and moved to Minnesota.
She married Lester R. Perschbacher on April 30, 1960. They had 50 precious years together.
Cathy had worked for 16 years at Land O’ Lakes, then for three years at Wedge Nursery.
A member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1962, Cathy had been very involved in church activities. She enjoyed being in choir, served on the Altar Guild, was a Sunday school teacher, participated in Bible studies, senior activities and the Church Women. She had a special talent for attention to detail and had served as the wedding coordinator at Grace Lutheran for several years.
She was a member of the Garden Club, the Minnesota Rose Society and associate member of the American Rose Society.
She enjoyed knitting, gardening, cooking (she was awesome) and walking, and in her younger years was an avid athlete — active in swimming, softball and volleyball.
She will be greatly missed by her family, husband Lester; three children and their families: son, David and his wife, Vicki, and their children Katie, Jackie and Matthew of Coon Rapids; daughter Sharon and her husband, Lynn Morton, and their daughter Emily of Cerritos, Calif.; daughter Barb and her husband, Steve Brunswick, and their daughter Chloe of Bakersfield, Calif.; a sister, Barbara, and her husband, Ron Telfer, of Torrance, Calif.; brother, Donald Koepp, and his wife, Kathleen, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; stepbrothers, Chris Schmidt and his wife, Cathy, of Chisholm, and Charles Schmidt and his wife, Linda, of Alden; brother-in-law, Harry Perschbacher, and his wife, Doris, of Albert Lea; aunt Linda Hamson of Bricelyn; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Koepp, her mother, Ruth Schmidt, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Russell and Elsie Perschbacher.
Cathy spent her life always trying to make life a little better for someone else.
She was always doing special things, sending notes, gifts, cards and treats, especially for her grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Grace Lutheran Church.
