Donald L. Barrigar, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum officiating. Entombment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and at the church after 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Following the service a reception will be held at Elmcrest Country Club.
Survivors include three children; Sharon (Robert) Jadrnicek of Oak Creek, Wis., Linda (Dennis) Krog of Marion, and Donald (Diann) Barrigar of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister Janet (Norm) Long of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother Robert.
Donald was born October 5, 1924, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Robert and Marie Wangen Barrigar. A U.S. Navy veteran serving as a petty officer first class electricians mate. He married Vivian C. (Vicki) on January 9, 1945, in San Francisco, Calif., and he founded Acme Electric Co. in 1950. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, a member of Elks Club, Elmcrest Country Club, Mount Hermon Masonic Lodge, and a Noble in the Elkahir Shrine. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing in Florida, fishing in Canada and was a licensed private pilot. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
