Manly Timmerman

Manly August “Tim” Timmerman passed away April 28, 2010, at the Austin Medical Center.  He had been living the past year at Our House Memory Care in Austin.
He was born on Dec. 11, 1925, to August and Ella Timmerman in Riceville, Iowa. Manly graduated from Riceville and joined the Navy soon after and was in for many years. He belonged to the VFW in Osage, Iowa, for 50 years and was also a member of the Austin American Legion.
His folks made their home in Osage and he lived in Osage after he was discharged from the Navy. He married LaVonne Miller of Austin on Feb. 22, 1947, in Albert Lea. Manly and LaVonne were married for 47 years and lived in Osage, where he ran two service stations. They moved to Austin where Manly was a manager at J.C. Penney’s auto department. He then went to work for Hormel until his retirement. LaVonne passed away in 1994.
Manly is survived by his brother, Robert Timmerman, Riceville, Iowa; sister-in-law: Doris (Miller) Kent of Salina, Kan.; one very dear friend, Gracie Ferguson of Austin; nephew, Gene (Darlene) Timmerman of Mason City, Iowa; niece, Janet (Greg) Holmes of Detroit Lakes; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with Austin Post 91 American Legion and Olaf B. Damm Post 1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars in charge of military rites. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
