Arlen Brune, 62

Funeral services for Arlen Brune of Baudette will be held on today at 10:30 a.m. at Wabanica Lutheran Church in rural Baudette. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette. Committal service and Interment will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Concordia-Bear Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Arlen Elwin Brune passed away at his home in Baudette on Jan. 11, 2010, at the age of 62.
Arlen was born on July 3, 1947, in Albert Lea, to Ella (Yost) and Elwin Brune. He grew up and attended grade school in Albert Lea, graduating from the Southern School of Agriculture in Waseca in 1965.
After high school, he took over the family farm, which was a dairy and beef operation. He and Carol (Adair) were married in Albert Lea on Jan. 31, 1969. They moved to Baudette to farm in 1984. In recent years he also worked for Cenex Co-op Service in Baudette.
He enjoyed learning new technology such as tile drainage, repairing and building machines, woodworking, and working to produce top quality cattle and field crops.
He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, wanting things done to perfection, and his loving care of his family. His special joy in recent years were his six grandchildren. His Christian faith and regular Sunday worship were a very important part of his life.
He was a member of Wabanica Lutheran Church, the Cenex Co-op Service Board and had served on the county fair board for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Brune of Baudette; children: Cheryl Schmitz of Park Rapids, Linda (Steve) Martin of Baudette, Debra (William) Lucek of Baudette, and Dale (Cassondra) Brune of Baudette; grandchildren: Nicholas, Jacob, Rayna, Kathrine, Alexis and Jayce; sister, Ruth Lee of Baudette and cousin, Luverne Brune of Conger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, William Arlen.
