Robert W. McCabe Sr., 86, of Bloomington, died unexpectedly on Jan. 7, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lenore, of 60 years, and brothers: George and Billy. He is survived by his children: Robert Jr. (Ann), Judy (Craig) Freeman, Nancy McCabe; grandchildren: Michael McCabe, Ryan (Sue) McCabe, Dan (Lisa) McCabe, Jon (Deneen) Freeman, Kate Freeman, Dan Freeman and Patrik Freeman; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was born in St. Paul. Bob played baseball and basketball while attending St. Thomas College and served in the Army Air Force in World War II. He played both professional baseball and basketball, and many years in the Southern Minny League. Bob worked as a regional sales manager for International Multifoods and in real estate with Edina Realty and Realty Center. He was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor, integrity and faith, who was passionate about his family and friends. We are sure there is a heavenly ball club awaiting his arrival as they are looking for a good second baseman.
A special thank you to his caring neighbors and dear friend, Janet, and family.
Donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 330 Exchange St. S., St. Paul, 55102.
