Sarah Margarette Dahle was born on Jan. 25, 1926, in Pomeroy, Ohio, to Harrison and Gertrude (Pride Curry) Singleton. As a child she moved to Senecaville, Ohio, where she grew up and graduated from high school. After high school she worked in an ammunition plant until the end of WWII.
After the war, she became a secretary in Cleveland, Cambridge, and Columbus, Ohio. In 1951, Margarette moved to Houston, Texas, and worked for an airline company. It was there that she met a new 2nd Lieutenant named Paul Dahle. They were married seven weeks later, after a whirlwind courtship, on Sept. 5, 1953.
For the next 17 years, Margarette maintained a home wherever her husband’s assignments took them. During an assignment in California, children Laura and Joseph joined the family.
In 1975, the family moved to the Emmons-Lake Mills area. Margarette continued to be a housekeeper with several other activities. She taught Sunday school for 35 years and was the treasurer of the Lime Creek Ladies Aid for many years. Margarette was a life member and served on the board of directors for the Winnebago County and Lake Mills Historical Societies. Margarette also faithfully delivered meals on wheels for 30 years. For pleasure, she participated in bridge clubs and a hardanger club, and always had a book handy to read.
Left to mourn her passing are Paul, her husband of 56 years; daughter, Laura Saeedi of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and son, Joseph Dahle of Emmons; granddaughter, Winter Rose Saeedi and three grandsons: Joshua, Tyler, and Alex Dahle; a sister, Gertrude Baker; three sisters-in-law: Alice Naumann, Doris Singleton, and Katherine Singleton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margarette was preceded in death by her parents; father- and mother-in-law, Elmer and Margaret Dahle; and brothers: John Curry, and James, Everett, Charles, Leonard, and Raymond Singleton.
