Fern Christina Larson, 92, of Blue Earth, died peacefully at her home on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, after suffering from cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with the Rev. Stephen Bohling and Rev. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services. Fern was born on Aug. 21, 1917, in Mahnomen, the daughter of Nels and Marie (Petersen) Stephensen. Her youth was spent in the rural areas of Albert Lea and Alden. She was married to Ervin Larson on Sept. 23, 1939, in Forest City, Iowa. Ervin and Fern farmed in the Frost area for many years before managing the Frost Creamery for nine years. In 1965, the family moved to Blue Earth where Fern worked for the Faribault Co-op and St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center. Ervin and Fern were longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth.
Fern is survived by a son, Steven (Marg) of Apple Valley; sister, Edith Haugen, of Amboy; grandson, Matthew (Denise) Larson of Apple Valley; granddaughter, Kate Larson, of Blaine; and great-granddaughter, Stephanie Gimberline, of Apple Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Gloria Fuller; sisters: Esther Simonsen and Lillian Larson; and brother, Donald Stephensen.
