The Albert Lea Legion Post 56 baseball team used a Jordan Mondeel leadoff home run and a Colby Strilaeff RBI single to defeat Owatonna 6-5 in eight innings on Wednesday in Owatonna.

Owatonna threatened in the bottom of the eighth-inning with the tying run on second before Aaron Klatt struck out Owatonnas Brett Meager to end the threat.

Klatt earned the win as he went all eight innings and allowed six hits and struck out five.

Quinn Christenson took the loss for Owatonna.

At the plate, Connor Kortan went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Albert Lea. While Jordan Mondeel went 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI and Colby Strilaeff went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Albert Lea.

The Albert Lea Legion team is back in action next Monday in Kasson for a double-header at 3 p.m. and then returns home to Hayek Field next Thursday to play Owatonna at 5 p.m.
