Ardys E. Collen (Helland), 83, a 30-year resident of Naperville, Ill., and formerly of Glen Ellyn, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Edward Hospital in Naperville.
She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Emmons. Mrs. Collen had worked as a receptionist for the Glen Ellyn Clinic for 20 years and earlier did clerical work for the U.S. Government in Joliet. She was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Naperville and in her spare time loved to work in her garden, dance and help others. Her greatest devotion was to her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted husband Max F. Collen; children: Ron (Sue) Collen D.D.S., of Northfield, Ken Collen D.D.S., of Naperville and Nancie D.D.S. (Fred D.P.M.) Spencer of Naperville; three grandchildren: Kevin and Jack Spencer and Tracey Collen; two sisters: Marie (Harold) Petersen of Alden and Ida (Robert) Paulsen of Ellsworth, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Aaltine Collen; and one brother, Laurel Helland.
A memorial service will be held on today at 11 a.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1313 N. Mill St., Naperville. Interment will be private. Arrangements by Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S.
