Arthur Baer, 93

The funeral service for Arthur M. Baer, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake. The Rev. Wendy Anderson will officiate. Interment will be at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Pickerel Lake. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 East Main, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Arthur died peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. He was 93.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1916, in Pickerel Lake Township, the son of John M. and Anna (Steele) Baer. He attended District #56 schools Arthur married Doris L. Johnson on Nov. 24, 1937.
Arthur, a lifetime area resident, farmed for more than 50 years before retiring. Being around animals was one aspect of farming that he especially enjoyed.
He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake where he had served on the Church Council. He had also served on the School Board for District #56.
Arthur will be lovingly missed by his wife of more than 71 years, Doris; four sons: Jerome (Elaine) Baer of Albert Lea, Rev. Dean (Beverly) Baer of Ankeny, Iowa, Alan (Becky) Baer of Madison Lake, and Lynn Baer of Pierce City, Mo.; grandchildren: Lori (Gary) Anderson, Scott (Laurie) Baer, Joseph (Peggy) Hamson, Michelle (Eric) Willey, Sonja Baer, Kirstin (John) Harding, Angie Baer, Nikki (Chris) Baker, Keri Baer, Tiffany (Roy) Heneman; great grandchildren: Jessica and Jeremiah Anderson, Brittany, Jenna and Emma Baer, Crystal and Josh Hamson, Natasha and Madison Willey, Zachary, Ezekiel and Elijah Baer, Mason and Logan Harding, Matthew Baer, Cody, Dylan and Levi Baker, Alex and Brooklyn Baer, Breanna Heneman; also survived by brother-in-law, Walter Johnson and sister-in-law Viola Johnson both of Albert Lea; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Anna Baer; sister, Norma Pestorious and her husband Art; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Henry and Minnie Johnson; brother’s-in-law: Arthur Johnson and Carl Johnson and his wife Irene.
