Paul J. Andrejewski, age 84 of Albert Lea, formerly of Waseca, died on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 10th at 11 a.m. at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea with the Rev. Jim Burning, officiate. Interment with military honors will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Waseca.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services, at St. Theodore’s in Albert Lea. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the American Legion Post 228, or The Paul Andrejewski Waseca High School Scholarship Fund.
Paul James was born on Aug. 9, 1924, in Winona to Felix and Victoria (Wesolowski) Andrejewski. He graduated from Winona High School. During WWII Paul served in Pacific Theater with U.S. Army. Following his military duty he returned home, and on Nov. 21, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Drazkowski at St. Casmir’s Catholic Church in Winona. Paul attended St. Mary’s College in Winona and graduated from Winona Teachers College. He then began a long career as a high school art teacher. He taught at Waldorf High School the first year of his career (1950). From 1951 until his retirement in 1986 he taught at Waseca High School. He was Waseca’s first tennis and wrestling coach, and coached JV football for many years. After his wife Mary passed away in 1987, Paul married Millie Tiedeman. Paul and Millie resided in Albert Lea for the last 20 years. Paul was an avid sports fan, and was an active volunteer at Sacred Heart Church while living in Waseca and for the last 20 years at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. He was a member of the Waseca VFW-Sweet Sommers Post 1642, and the Waseca American Legion Post 228. Paul had served as American Legion Post Commander, 1st District Commander, State Commander, and National Vice Commander.
He is survived by his son James (Kris) Andrejewski of Woodstock, Ga.; by his daughters Nancy (Bob) Kelling of Waseca, Julie Andrejewski of St. Michael, and Victoria Andrejewski of Waseca; by his four grandchildren Abby (Randy) Bartz, Sagan Kelling, Jamie Andrejewski, and John Andrejewski; by his great granddaughter Ryley Bartz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife Mary on May 13, 1987, and his wife Millie in Dec. of 2008; by his sister Margaret.
